We get this question almost every week, usually from an adult child calling about a parent. The short answer is yes — chiropractic care is one of the safer interventions in conservative musculoskeletal medicine for older adults, when the technique is matched to the patient.
We don’t use high-velocity manual adjustments on patients with confirmed or suspected osteoporosis. We don’t twist a 78-year-old spine the same way we twist a 28-year-old’s. And we don’t adjust at all without a thorough exam and, when warranted, current imaging.
Common questions
Yes — we just use low-force techniques and never high-velocity manipulation. Your mom would not be the first 78-year-old we treat in any given week.
